Rubén is an artist with roots in both Madrid and the Canary Islands, blending the vibrant energy of the city with the calm of the ocean. His first collection, Swimmers, was born from his love for triathlons and Ironman races. Over time, he realized he was that swimmer — moving in a clearly different direction from the rest, always trying to be true to himself in the sea of life. Swimmers became a metaphor for authenticity and courage.
Over time, Rubén was attracted to the possibilities of epoxy resin. Although it seemed like a simple material at first, discovered that it required patience, observation and a lot of trial and error. For many nights he experimented with pigments, drying times, humidity and temperature, until he mastered a complex technique that gave birth to his UnderWater collection. An abstract and meditative series created layer by layer on wood, with glossy finishes and great visual depth.
Rubén is self-taught. He developed his artistic language through intuition, constant observation, and a deep desire to connect with others through his work. After leaving behind a corporate career, he now paints full-time — something he sees as a gift. What he values most is witnessing the joy and emotion his artworks bring to those who collect them.
Rubén lives and works in Madrid, where he keeps his studio. He can often be spotted running through Retiro Park at sunrise.
